Caracas, February 20 – Bolivian President Evo Morales met with family members of his Venezuelan counterpart, President Hugo Chávez, who returned to his country on Monday after completing the first phase of his post-operation cancer treatment in Havana.
María Gabriela Chávez, the President´s daughter, wrote on her Twitter account, “A beautiful meeting with our brother Evo. He came to give us his support and express the love from the Bolivian people. What a human being! Thank you Evo.”
During his visit, President Morales went to the Bolivarian Military Academy in Caracas, accompanied by Venezuelan Vice-President Nicolás Maduro. He also had a meeting with Maduro, along with the President of the National Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, and the head of the cabinet. In this meeting, Morales said that the leadership of Chávez is indisputable in all of Latin America and in international forums, and he considered that the best homage to offer is that of unity. The Bolivian President´s trip to Caracas only lasted five hours, as it was on his way to the United Nations headquarters in New York, where he participated in the acts for the inauguration of the Year of Quinoa.
