HAVANA, Apr 5 – With a long walk for health, Cuba marked on Friday World Health Day, celebrated every April 7 on the planet.
Participants started and 8:30 a-m- from the park located on 23rd and C Streets and walked all the way to H and 21st Streets in the capital’s Vedado neighborhood, where the main meeting to mark the date took place, according to representatives to Havana of the Pan-American and World health organizations (PAHO-WHO).
Healthy conduct was promoted in every territory by way of exchanges, debates and socialization on this subject in waiting rooms of all institutions in this sector and recreational, cultural and sports activities were held.
Likewise, the celebration included actions of promotion, like healthy food, physical activity, prevention of nicotinism, hypertension and other health problems by family doctors and nurses, health personnel and specialists in health promotion and education.
World Health Day is marked on April 7 to commemorate the creation of the WHO in 1948.
A different topic of top priority is selected every year and on this occasion it’s dedicated to Hypertension, suffered by 33 percent of the adult population in Cuba, where it’s the first cause of medical attention in emergency services of all territories.
