Camerata Romeu Chamber Orchestra again Under the Baton of Rubinstein

Havana, Apr 26  –  The Camerata Romeu, one of the most distinguished Cuban women orchestras will be under the baton of Bernard Rubinstein (United States) at a concert for the 115th anniversary of the birth of composer George Gershwin (1898-1937).Next Saturday Rubinstein will lead for the second time the Cuban group in its usual venue of the Convent of San Francisco de Asis, in Havana’s historic center, temple for classical music and sacred art.

The program includes several pieces of contemporary authors from the United States such as Andrew Norman, John Corigliano, Gabriela Lena Frank and Samuel Barber, among others.

Director of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra of North Dakota, the also academic said he was impressed by the quality of interpretation of Cuban musicians.

It is a pleasure to share with Cuban groups, including the Camerata Romeu, he said in recent statements to the press. They are a female band of high technical level and artistic sensitivity.

On previous visits to Cuba Rubinstein has led the National and the East Symphony Orchestras.
