Cuba, May 15 – Havana will host the 4th Meeting of the Ministerial Council on Social Issues of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America (ALBA) on May 17. The forum will particularly focus on education, health, culture and sports. The meeting of the regional integration bloc, made up of eight countries, will address the support by the Bank of the ALBA of social projects, including illiteracy and post-illiteracy programs, and it will also contribute to the strengthening of medical cooperation in ALBA member nations.
Culture, social security and the celebration of the 5th ALBA sports games will be on the meeting’s agenda.
The ALBA bloc is made up of Antigua y Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, San Vicente and las Granadines, and Venezuela.
The forum will take place at Havana’s National Hotel, where participants will sign a final document.
In March 2011, the Bolivian city of Cochabamba hosted the 3rd Meeting of the ALBA Ministerial Council on Social Issues.
