Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro to Attend July 26th Celebrations in Santiago de Cuba

Havana, July 19 — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has announced he will visit Cuba next week to participate in the ceremony on July 26th for the 60th anniversary  of the attack on the Moncada Garrison.

Speaking in the Venezuelan state of Monagas, the Bolivarian leader said: “We’ll be in Santiago de Cuba at the commemorations with Fidel and Raul,” noting that recalling the assault on the Moncada garrison is vindicating the glorious history of Cuba in its struggle for independence.

The Cuban Revolution opened a new independence stage in Latin America and prevented U.S. imperialism from swallowing Cuba by thwarting Washington’s attempts to annex the island.

Maduro’s trip to Cuba will be his second official visit since he won presidential elections in April.
