Iran, Cuba vow to consolidate ties

Tehran, July 23 – Iranian and Cuban officials underscored the two countries’ keenness to further strengthen bilateral relations and mutual cooperation, during a meeting Tuesday in Tehran.

“The Islamic Consultative Assembly (the Parliament) supports the expansion and consolidation of all-out relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Cuba,” the head of the Iran-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, Abdolreza Mesri, said in a meeting with Cuban Charge d’affaires, David Paulovich Escalona, in Tehran on Tuesday.

Mesri also highlighted both countries’ common positions and viewpoints on the international issues, which, he said, provide an excellent ground for the further expansion of ties between the two countries.

For his part, Paulovich underlined the Cuban government’s eagerness to deepen relations with Iran, particularly in the trade, economic and cultural fields.
