Pablo Milanés set to hold summer concerts on the island

Cuban singer-songwriter, Pablo Milanés, will offer three concerts in the Cuban cities of Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey and Havana this summer.

Cuba, Aug 5  -Milanés, who is known in Cuba and around the world for his famous songs “Yolanda” and “El breve espacio en que no estás” and others, is scheduled to sing at Santiago de Cuba’s Heredia Theater on August 7th; at the University of Camagüey in the same city on August 9th; and to close his summer presentations the renowned Cuban musician and singer will give a concert at Havana’s Lázaro Peña Theater on the 11th.

Born in the eastern city of Bayamo on February 24, 1943, the also guitar player is considered by Cubans one of the founders of the Cuban New Song Movement, along with Silvio Rodríguez, Noel Nicola and others.

His songs: “Yolanda”, “Yo me quedo”, “Amo a esta isla”, “Yo pisaré las calles nuevamente”, “Para Vivir”, and “El breve espacio en que no estás” are especially well-known.
