Cuba, Aug. 6 – Cuban actress, Asenneh Rodríguez, passed away in Havana on Sunday at the age of 79. Buried on Monday, Rodriguez lied in state at Havana’s Calzada y K funeral parlor, where her colleagues, fans and people in general packed the facility to pay their last respects to the Cuban actress.
Born on June 20th, 1934, in Sagua la Grande, on the northern coast of the central Villa Clara province, she made her debut as an actress at the age of 12 in a children’s show of the People’s Socialist Party’s Mil Diez radio station.
In 1958, Rodríguez joined Prometeo, one of the few art theater ensembles at that time.
The 1959 Cuban Revolution, to which she contributed as an underground combatant, allowed her to fully develop her skills and potentials as an actress. In the 1960’s she acted in many plays staged in theater and began to act in film and television.
A National TV Award Laureate, the versatile actress developed an intense and successful career in TV soap operas, teleplays and variety shows.
