San Salvador, Aug 10  –  Vice President Salvador Sanchez Ceren launched the book “La Unidad Nacional. Cimiento de Independencia y Victoria” (National Unity. Foundation of Independence and Victory), by Cuban Ambassador to El Salvador Pedro Pablo Prada.

The book launch took place on Friday night at the “Nuestra America” Cultural Center, where attendees also paid tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who will celebrate his 87th birthday on August 13.

Sanchez Ceren, presidential candidate from the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), stressed the importance of unity, which is essential to the people’s victory.

The book contains the legacy of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti and the teachings from his successor, Fidel Castro, on the need for the unity of popular forces to ensure a successful revolution, he stated.

He noted that the book focuses on the fundamental role of unity for the independent development of Latin America and Caribbean nations.

Sanchez Ceren said that way was undertaken by Liberator Simon Bolivar and followed by other Latin American heroes such as Francisco Morazan and Jose Marti, and was continued by Fidel Castro and the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez.

Ambassador Prada explained that the book was originally a lecture he gave on October 10, 2011, at the Jose Marti Department of the University of El Salvador, and was published by the FMLN’s Morazan publishing house.
