Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 14 – Music and Folklore Dances Company Camagua continues giving glory to Cuba during its European tour this month, reported the Provincial Cultural Sector in this city.
In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, the Department of Communication and Sociocultural Development of that institution said Camagueyan stood out at the 22nd International Meeting on Traditions and Ethnic Groups in Saint Girons, France.
Together with Camagua, folkloric groups like Vranovan from Slovakia, Withireia from New Zealand, Alto Folclor Jalimay of Peru and Le Roudelet Felibreen, Les Orients de Occitanie II, Les Bethmalais of France.
Other participants were groups from India, Bulgaria and Tartastan from Russia.
Agustin Martinez de Santelices, public relations officer from the Camagua company said the official reception of the Festival was attended by Francois Murillo, mayor of the city of Girons, who gave a welcome speech and handed presents to participant countries.
The public relations officer said the company performed at the Hospital Center Ariege Couserans in the city of Saint Girons, with the show “Cubanisimo”.
Camagua also performed at the Jean Buffelan Plaza of that city. The company presented another show, “Suite Cubain” at the Polivalent Hall of Serres-Sur Arget, where they shared the stage with Folkloric Group Vranovan of Slovakia.
Over three thousand 500 persons attended the gala “Cultures of the World” at the Expo Park, center stage of the Saint-Girons festival which closed with a Cuban show “I am the Caribbean”.
