Moscow, Aug 16 – Cuban Pedro Pablo Pichardo will be the main representative of Latin America in the final of the triple jump competition at the Athletics World Championships Moscow-2013, after qualifying today with the fifth best record in the preliminaries.
Pichardo, world junior champion in Barcelona 2012, won the right with a jump of 17.06 meters, achieved in his first attempt of the qualifying stage.
The organizers demanded 17.05, mark reached only by four other triple jumpers, led by French Teddy Thango series (17.41), the world indoor champion in Doha- 2010.
In the finals will be the also French athlete Yoann Rapinier (17.39) and the representatives from the United States Christian Taylor (17.36) and Hill Clayde (17.08).
Haitian Samyr Laine, Chinese Bin Dong, Romanian Marian Oprea, Italian Fabrizio Schembri, Russian Aleksey Fedorov, Greek Dimítrios Tsiámis and French Ga tan Saku Bafuanga Baya complete the list.
The final competition will take place on Sunday at the Luzhniki Stadium, venue of the tournament.
