Women are Majority in Cuban Scientific Sector

Havana, Aug 26  –  Women represent about 53 percent in the Cuban scientific sector, in direction, research, technical, and service posts.

Until 2012, the number of workers directly linked to science and technology was 89,947, and 47,609 are women, according to the 2012 Statistical Yearbook in Cuba, the National Bureau of Statistics and Information, published in Granma newspaper today.

The daily stated that from the educational preparation viewpoint, of all people working in this area, almost 70,000 are university graduates, 4,655 of which are categorized researchers, while more than 12,000 are from high school.
