CIEGO DE AVILA, Aug, 28 – Cubatur Travel Agency in central Ciego de Avila province reported that during this summer, domestic customers accounted for 80 percent of all its businesses.
Humberto Perez Ramirez, director of Cubartur in the territory, said that the company focused on the marketing of the hotels located in the Jardines del Rey, towards which they led 95 percent of sales.
He noted that in August alone revenues exceeded the 200 000 Convertible pesos Cuban (CUC ) and priority was given to facilities that could ensure a proper balance of quality and price as Iberostar Daiquiri, Mojito and Iberostar Tryp Cayo Coco, among others.
The agency also receives tourists arriving in the area north of Ciego de Avila, from other latitudes and represents the interests of tour operators as Havanatur, Iberoservy, Tours Mont-Royal (TMR), and several Canadian companies.
They also offer attractive excursions, among which are the catamaran rides and the one they call Spectacular, which takes customers for the day to the provincial capital. Both services are the star products Cubatur is offering this summer.
Pérez Ramírez said that marketing this summer recorded similar levels to the previous year and placed the province in fourth place among tourist destinations trailing Havana, Varadero and Trinidad.
Annabel Fiss, director of the Tourist Information Office in Ciego de Avila, said that in order to attract customers they are organizing fairs periodically with special prices and some free deals for kids.
