Havana, Sep 4 – The Cuban press is recalling today the death of the young Italian Fabio Di Celmo, killed in a terrorist attack that took place in the lobby of a Havana hotel on September 4, 1997.
The Juventud Rebelde newspaper mentioned that additional explosives were detonated the same year at two Cuban tourism agencies in Mexico and Nassau, while other bombs exploded at many hotels in Havana and Varadero. Simultaneously there was a failed assassination plot against Fidel Castro at the Ibero-American Summit in Margarita Island, Venezuela.
One of those monstrous terrorist actions killed the young Italian businessman Fabio Di Celmo, forever wounding a happy family, the daily added.
The anti-Cuban terrorist Luis Posada Carriles spoke to a New York Times reporter afterwards about his connection with those horrific terrorist actions. Currently, he walks freely through the streets of Miami, the newspaper denounced.
Posada is also responsible for the mid-flight sabotage that killed 73 people aboard a Cubana de Aviacion airliner, among other terrorst actions against the island.
