Costa Rica Readies to Lead Community of Latin American and Caribbean States

HAVANA, Sep 20The government of Costa Rica started preparations to assume the pro-tempore presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States as of January 2014.

Costa Rican foreign minister Enrique Castillo said that a meeting took place on Thursday with the participation of government officials from different sectors, according to PL news agency.Castillo stressed the significance of the regional bloc, given its important role in this part of the world.

The Community is made up of 33 countries and aims at promoting development and regional integration.
