HAVANA,  Oct 21  –  Legendary Cuban dancer and choreographer Alicia Alonso received on Friday the tribute of the Iberian-American Theater Festival of Cadiz (FIT) in a ceremony in which, at her almost 93 years of age she insisted she plans to live another 200, “because I feel I’m needed”.
Accompanied by her husband, the director of the Dance Museum of Cuba, Pedro Simon, the eternal Giselle received, at the City Hall of Cadiz (south) the Atahualpa del Cioppo prize, an acknowledgement to her long and fruitful artistic career in stages from around the world, with which the Iberian-American Theater Festival of Cadiz began on Friday its 28th edition, the Granma newspaper reported.

It was precisely her “Coppelia” the ballet that inaugurated the FIT, a Festival that, until October 26, will offer a repertoire of theater pieces by companies from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico and Spain.
