HAVANA, Oct 21 – Cuban president Raul Castro attended last night the ceremony for the 27th anniversary of the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS by its Spanish acronmy) held at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana City.
Raul was accompanied by the Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, and Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People’s Power.
During the occasion, included in the program of the Second Congress of the organization, which represents more than two thousand young artists nationwide, the Master of Youth Awards were granted to personalities who had made a significant work in the culture field.
The laurel was awarded to writer Nancy Morejon, painters Lesbia Vent-Dumois and Nelson Domínguez, musicians Digna Guerra and Wilfredo “Pachy” Naranjo, filmmaker Tulio Raggi, architect Mario Coyula and theater director Carlos Diaz.
The National Literature Award Nancy Morejon thanked the AHS on behalf of all the winners and said she thought of the prize as a “great honor”.
Luis Morlote, President of the AHS, highlighted the career of these artists and intellectuals, who besides performing their work that are already part of Cuban heritage, share their knowledge with the next generation.
