Washington, Oct 21 – Serena Williams (United States) is today the number one in the Women´s Tennis World Ranking.
The youngest of the Williams sisters has the current absolute control of that sport and leads the world ranking with 12 040 points, widely ahead of her main rivals Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (7 676) and Russian Maria Sharapova (5 891).
The most significant change in the top 10 was conducted by the former number one Caroline Wozniacki (3 520), from Denmark, who dropped from place 11 to 10.
For Latin America and the Caribbean the most relevant player is the Puerto Rican Monica Puig, in the position 49.
Among the top 100 are also the Argentinean Paula Ormaechea (59th place with 977 points), Brazilian Teliana Pereira (88th with 750), and the Colombian Mariana Duque-Marino (97th with 680).
