HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 16 – Cuban Hero Rene Gonzalez, the only one of the five anti-terrorist fighters, unfairly incarcerated in the US in 1998, who has returned home, said that his four brothers still in US jails keep their high spirit and strong moral as valiant patriots.
Speaking to participants at the 9th International Colloquium for the Freedom of the Cuban Five and against Terrorism, underway in eastern Holguin province, Gonzalez recalled the brutal actions committed against them since the very moment they were arrested in 1998, as well as those committed against his four brothers still incarcerated.
All this process against us constitutes an act of revenge by the US government against Cuba and it can only be justified with the fact that Washington has not been able to topple the Cuban Revolution, which keeps proving the fairness of its human work, he noted.
After recalling the tough days in Jail, far from their beloved ones and the Cuban people, Gonzalez said that it’s now time to break the wall of injustice posed against the Five. He described the colloquium as a strong force of world solidarity for the unconditional and immediate release of Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino and Fernando González.
The session, held at the Holguin Exhibit Ground, was attended by relatives of the Cuban Five, who appreciated the statements and supportive gestures by delegates at the forum, who voiced their claim for the release of the four patriots.
