Buenos Aires, Jan 7 – Argentina’s President Cristina Fernández returned to this capital last night and is resuming her agenda today, meeting first with her Chief of Cabinet, Jorge Capitanich, in one of several meetings scheduled for this Tuesday.Fernandez, who underwent an operation on October 8 to drain an intracranial clot was confined to strict bed rest for two months. From December 20 on, she was at her family home in the southern province of Santa Cruz.
However, she kept abreast of the daily happenings in the country, and gave guidance to the executive team on the most urgent matters, her secretaries assured.
The press office of the Presidency reported that the head of state will be meeting with Capitanich in her office this morning at the presidential residence in Olivos, and then will meet with Finance Minister, Axel Kicillof, and Planning Minister, Julio de Vido .
She has also summoned the secretaries for Legal and Technical Affairs, Carlos Zannini, and the Presidency, Oscar Parrilli.
Capitanich said in his usual morning news conference that the President will resume the public agenda on Wednesday, but gave no details. Media sources said she will lead a ceremony at Government House with the Minister of Social Development, Alicia Kirchner.
As such, it will be her first public appearance in 2014. The last activity of this kind in 2013 was December 19 when she made official the promotions of new heads of the Armed Forces.
