Havana, Mar 17 – President of the Cuban Boxing Federation, Alberto Puig, reported today that the Cuba Wranglers will advance to the semifinals of the World Boxing Series (WBS).
“The achievements so far have increased the enthusiasm of the team and their audience, and within that enthusiasm the quarterfinals will be a point of departure toward the next stage, Puig said.
In statements to the digital website Jit, Puig explained that the goal is to go out to win every fight in the duel against the U.S. Knockouts at the quarter-finals of the WBS, March 28, with a return to Havana on April 4.
“To make it to this stage is a reward for the effort expended and confirms our standing; now the aim is to move forward,” he added.
Regarding the team’s rivals, Puig said that this is a country with tradition, and with several foreign teams that had achieved good results, but he was confident in the team’s ability to prevail.
“We are working to win again and to make it to the semifinals,” he concluded.
In addition to these matches, initially planned for the city of Miami, other matches include the Ukraine Otamans against Russia, Dolce & Gabbana Italia Thunder vs. Baku Fires of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan Astana facing Arlans Germany.
The winner between the Ukrainians and Russians will face the winner of the Cuba-United States match, at the semifinals.
