Havana, Cuba, Apr10 .- Bolivia’s Health minister Juan Carlos Calvimontes thanked Cuba for its medical collaboration with his country as he marked the 8 th anniversary of the arrival in Bolivia of the first brigade of Cuban health specialists.
The minister said that the Cuban doctors have shared the needs of the Bolivian people and have helped them solve important health problems, particularly of the poorest sectors of the population. He stressed achievements in lowering the levels of infant and maternal mortality and in returning the sight to thousands of Bolivians.
Cuban doctor Niviola Cabrera, who heads the medical brigade, said that 718 Cuban health specialists are currently working in Bolivia, with 366 of them being doctors.
