Camagüey, april 25 – The structural conditions of Camagüey-based Ana Betancourt de Mora Mother and Child Hospital has been markedly improved, following a comprehensive repair and renovation program which translates into much better healthcare services for patients and comfort for them, their accompanying relatives and the personnel working there.
Dr. Sigfrido Valdés Dacal, director of this healthcare facility, stated that improvements are noticeable in the conditions of
wards. There are new comfortable chairs for accompanying relatives, cold water in the wards, fans, phone booths and new
bathrooms which make more bearable the patients’ stay in the hospital.
Nowadays the central lab is subjected to a total repair and a necessary investment has been made at the radiology department.
It is worth to mention what has been done at the hospital’s sterilization plant and the so-called El Centenario, a bloc
specialized in gynecological services and outpatients consultation, is being entirely refurbished.
Even when the size and length of this repairing has caused some discomfort among patients, Dr. Valdés Dacal praised the
dedication of the staff working in this facility to minimize such inconveniences.
Over 6,500 deliveries were performed and over 5,000 gynecological surgeries were carried out at this facility last year,
stressed the interviewed.
