Camagüey, April 25 – The Hermanos Gómez Tourism and Hotel School in the city of Camagüey accepted the Provincial Environment Award for its contribution in caring the environment and preserving the natural values.
The award was granted during the ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the Ministry of Tourism which has played a remarkable role in the development of this province, and now gains momentum at the time when the island nation propels a major transformation of its socio-economic model.
The Provincial Environment Award was also conferred to other four facilities: hotels Gran Club Santa Lucía, Club Amigo
Mayanabo, Club Amigo Caracol and Brisas Santa Lucía, all located in Santa Lucia beach.
The ceremony during which the best workers of this sector were awarded was held at the newly opened “Bar Yesterday”, near the Plaza de la Solidaridad in a segment of the city of Camagüey proclaimed in 2008 a World Heritage Site.
Víctor Veloso Pimienta, provincial representative of the Minister of Tourism, told reporters that the investments that have
been made in this sector are in harmony with the environment which ensures a safe and sustainable management of resources and offers an attractive destination for tourists. (Juan Mendoza Medina/Radio Cadena Agramonte.)
