Cuba, may, 16 – Cuba announced today the eight runners who will participate in the World Relay Championship, which will be held at Nassau, Bahamas, on May 24 and 25.
According to the National Athletics Commission the 4×100 meters quartet is headed by Roberto Skyers, 200m gold medalist at Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games.
The team is also made up by Yaniel Carrero, Reynier Mena and Yadiel Luis; while William Collazo- Doha 2010 Indoor World Championship silver medalist- will lead the 4×400 relay along with Yoandys Lescay, Raidel Acea and Adrian Chacon.
The presence of teams like Jamaica in the 4×100 m in both sexes and Russian women’s 4×400, or the U.S. men’s team in that specialty is a sample of the great level of this competition.
On Bahamian soil it is expected the presence of 99 and 64 men’s and women’s quartets in the five called events: the Olympic ones 4×100 and 4×400, plus the 4×200, 4×800 and 4×1500 meters, these last three will be specials for the occasion.
This tournament will grant tickets to Beijing 2015 World Outdoor Championships to the first eight teams in the 4×100 and 4×400 m events, and will also grant berths for Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, according to Prensa Latina News Agency.
