Havana, May 22 – Cuba will have four World Cup canoeists at Szeged, Hungary, from May 23 to 25, says Alejandro Hanze, national commissioner of the discipline.
Leading the Cuban team and rowing as a pair are Reinier Torres and Rolexis Baez, silver and bronze medalists at the 2013 match, Hanze told Cuba’s National News Agency (AIN).
The canoeist Juan Carlos Burnes and the kayak athlete Maikel Zulueta complete the Cuban quartet, led by coaches Yosnier Dominguez and Yosdanis Barroso.
According to the manager, Torres, Baez and Burnes will row the 1,000, 500 and 200 meter races, and Zulueta will row the 1,000 and 5,000 meters.
The four canoeists are among the main figures of the discipline in Cuba, and are preparing for the Central American and Caribbean Games in November in Veracruz, Mexico.
