HAVANA, Cuba, May 30  –  Cuban Thelvia Marin and Nicaraguan Claribel Alegria received the Rafael Alberti Prize given by the International Poetry Festival of Havana.

The work of Cuban Marin, 92, and Nicaraguan Alegria, 90, has gone beyond poetry, since it includes narration, painting, essay and journalism, the Cubadebate Web site reported on Wednesday.

The acknowledgement was handed over on Tuesday during the “Palabra del Mundo” literary evening, on the occasion of the poetry festival that winds up on May 31 with readings and meetings between creators, directed by Cuban poet Alex Pausides, president of the Festival.
