Nicaragua Dedicates Symphonic Concert to Cuba

Managua, Oct 27  –  Nicaraguans and representatives of Cuba, Venezuela and Ecuador enjoyed of a symphonic concert with songs by Silvio Rodriguez and Pablo Milanes, held at this capital’s Ruben Dario’s Theater.

As part of celebrations on occasion of the Cuban Culture Day, held on October 20, Nicaraguan singers delighted the participants with emblematic songs by the founders of the Nueva Trova Movement in the island.

The artists sang songs such as “Ojala,” “La maza” and “El necio,” by Rodriguez, and “Yolanda,” “El breve espacio en que no estas” and “Comienzo y final de una verde mañana,” by Milanes, with musical arrangements by renowned Cuban orchestra director Enrique Perez, who directed the Nicaraguan chamber ensemble Camerata Bach.

The Caribbean nation’s ambassador to this country, Eduardo Martinez, thanked the Nicaraguan government its support and solidarity with the island.

Martinez dedicated the concert to the Cuban physicians who are working in different parts of the world, and the five Cubans who were arrested in 1998 in the United States.
