Cuba, Jan 17th – Fernando Dewar, director of the group, informed to Prensa Latina that the group was selected among more than 600 candidates to join the elite group of 12 that performed at Webster Hall and, in particular, in the main hall, in which the Cuban group performed with an impressive reception.
‘Driven by conga and bongos, topped with acoustic guitar and solos plucked on the tres, with trumpet cheekily answering the singers, it was sly, romantic, definitively Cuban and not just for local delight,’ wrote The New York Times about the evening, he said.
He also pointed out the praises expressed by Steve Inskeep, the host of the most-heard radio show in the United States, who said: ‘For me, one of the most resonant performances this year was that of a Cuban band called Septeto Santiaguero’.
Tomorrow, Cuban musicians will play live on America TV-Channel 41 and on Saturday they will perform at the Koubek Center, part of Miami-Dade College, as part of the Little Havana Social Club dance series, Dewar informed.(Radio Rebelde)
