Cuba, Feb 28th – Cuba’s First Vice President, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez met on Saturday in Santa Clara with students and professors from the University Central de Las Villas in charge of developing programs for the application of informatics which is very important for processing tasks.
He also expressed interest for the work carried out by the higher education center regarding information technology and stressed that it is a priority for country because it contributes to the development of society and its improvement process.
He added that the University in Villa Clara province contributes to the development of knowledge in a more attractive way for the youth with important and attractive contents that incited them in looking and sharing while taking them away from pseudo-cultural models of capitalism and neoliberal policies.
Diaz Canel highlighted the importance of working issues like the figure of Abel Santamaria on occasion of his 90th birthday in addition to the bibliographic fund of the Coronado Library of the University Central de las Villas of special value for students, researchers and others interested in knowledge.
Yanet Rodriguez Sarabia, Dean of the School of Math, Physics and Computer Science of the university explained that they started the work with the documents of the 7th Congress of Cuba’s Communist Party, later they incorporated aspects related with the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro on occasion of his 90th birthday and then homage to the historic leader after his passing away through images and sound.
She added that they will introduce the history of the university, the impact of legendary guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara in the territory and the objective of incorporating issues of interest like the history of the city of Santa Clara and many other patriotic contents that will contribute to the love of the locals to their region.
The Cuban First Vice President accompanied by Julio Lima Corzo, First Secretary of the Communist party in Villa Clara assisted in the ordinary session of the Provincial Assembly of the People’s Power where Alberto Lopez Diaz President of the government of the territory informed the program Imagen of the city of Santa Clara with the participation of several entities and institutions of the province.(Radio Rebelde)
