Berlin, Mar 9th – Organizers of the International Fair of Tourism ITB Berlin warned today about the negative effects that the US President Donald Trump´s immigration policies might have on tourism.
During the fair, which is opened today and considered one the most important of its kind in the world, participants will discuss how the restrictions placed on tourists affect the global economy.
Taleb Rifai, director of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), expressed his dismay at the US immigration policy.
He said that isolation does not increase security but tension and threats, while referring to sustainable tourism as a major challenge for the sector in a press conference.
ITB Berlin, officially opened by German minister of economy Brigitte Zypries, will be attended by more than 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries or tourist regions in the world.
Botswana is the guest country of this fair, although Turkey has the largest stand, with 50 exhibitors, from both public and private companies.(Prensa Latina)
