Holguin, May 3rd – The 37th International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2017) begins today in this eastern city with delegations from dozens of countries and the interest to boost the tour industry in the archipelago.
This meeting, which runs until May 6, places the island on the map of the world’s most important travel agencies and tour operators, declared the organizers.
The marketing director of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), María del Carmen Orellana, showed her satisfaction for having the meeting in such a colorful and traditional city.
She said that on the occasion of the fair, they hope to inaugurate several facilities to celebrate the country’s main recreational bag.
Holguín is the fourth pole of the travel industry in the island (after Havana, Varadero and Jardines del Rey) and will exhibit Cayo Ramón, in the Antilles, where there is a plan for 19,000 rooms.
FITCuba 2017 is dedicated to Germany as a guest country of honor and circuits as a product. Hence the choice of this city, which gathers, besides the variety of sun and beach, culture, nature, other varied interests.
Germany is one of the most important markets for Cuba, with a growth of 38 percent and 242,000 visitors in the previous year.
Cuba, which received 4.2 million visitors in 2016, has more than 62,000 hotel rooms distributed throughout the archipelago.(Prensa Latina)
