Cuba Competes in Guadeloupe with Six Athletes

Havana, May 17 –  Cuba will participate tomorrow with six athletes in the 13th edition of the international meeting of Guadalupe, which is part of the circuit of seven meetings organized by the French Federation of the discipline, it was reported today.

The small Cuban delegation is made up of four qualified athletes for the September World Championships in London, such as the heptathlonist Yorgelis Rodríguez, who will only compete in high jump, and the triple jump athlete Lázaro Martínez, in search of beating his best record of the season.

The triple jumper Liadagmis Povea and the 800-meter runner Rose Mary Almanza will also compete in Baie-Mahault stadium, with a capacity for five thousand fans.

Sprinters Roberto Skyers (100 and 200 meters) and Yoandys Lescay (400 meters) will participate in order to obtain records to go to London.

The American shot putter Ryan Crouser; Canada’s sprinter Andre DeGrasse; triple-jumpers Yulimar Rojas, representing Venezuela; and Nelson Evora, from Portugal, also are among the athletes attending this event.(Prensa Latina)
