Havana, Jun 6 th – The search for solutions to the production concrete problems is one of the objectives of a global symposium on beekeeping that will be held next week here, one of its organizers reported today.
The forum is part of the 7th International Agroforestry Convention, taking place from June 12 to 16 at HavanaÂ´s Conventions Center, and will discuss among the main topics the improvements of the bees, stated to Prensa Latina the director of Science and Technology of the Center for Apicultural Research (Ciapi), Juan Carlos Pérez.
They will also discuss other aspects such as bee health and flora, climate change, bee products and their quality, Pérez added.
The Agroforestry Convention will bring together the Congresses of Forestry, Coffee and Cocoa and Apiculture, in which specialists and researchers from Cuba and other countries will discuss the scientific-technical and production achievements of these agricultural branches.
The symposium will be honored with the presence of personalities of the sciences in this field, one of them is Dr. Kaspar Bienefeld, from the University of Nuremberg, a specialist in genetics and improvement of these insects; and Uruguayan professor Ciro Invernizzi, expert in bees diseases, who will give a master lecture.
In Cuba, beekeeping constitutes, along with tobacco and charcoal, an important source of income from the Ministry of Agriculture.(Prensa Latina)
