Kingston, Aug 11st – Jamaican Ministry of Health started the building of two cancer centers with state-of-the-art equipment, reported today Minister of Health Christopher Tufton.
Facilities are prepared in the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Saint James district and Saint Joseph Hospital in Kingston.
Equipments for each place include a linac, a CT simulator, a C-arm mobile X-ray unit, a brachytherapy machine with treatment planning system, and related quality assurance equipment, explained Tufton.
According to Strategic Plan and National Action for Prevention and Control of Non Communicable Diseases, Jamaican government aims to reduce the number of premature deaths caused by chronic diseases including cancer in a 25 percent by 2025.(Prensa Latina)
