Launch of Huawei’s Phone Postponed in Japan due to US Restrictions

Tokyo, May 23 –  Two telephone companies in Japan on Wednesday postponed the launch of Huawei’s P30 Lite smartphone, and a third firm is weighing the possibility of doing the same, after Google imposed restrictions to its Android operating system on the Chinese firm.

Softbank and KDDI, two of Japan’s major telecommunications companies, planned to sell the new model on Thursday but decided to postpone the launch until they are certain that Huawei can guarantee a stable supply of the product after the US measures are implemented.

They added that they have not set an exact date to launch the product in the Japanese market, and cancelled previous orders.

Sources from Japan’s telecommunications sector assured that NTT Docomo, a leading mobile cell company, is also weighing future plans to import Huawei’s smartphones and it might even postpone the launch of the P30 Lite, which was scheduled for this summer.(Prensa Latina)
