Cuba, Jul 2nd – The Sugar, Tobacco and Rum tour, currently very popular among foreign tourists visiting Ciego de Avila central province, will host this summer those nationals who like to know the evolution and development of sugar industry in Cuba.

The most striking point is the Sugar Museum, located in the old Patria o Muerte sugar mill, north of Ciego de Avila, where 10 exhibition areas offer the visitors different stages of the development of the sugar industry in Cuba.

The director of the Extrareserve Company Palmares, S.A, Jorge Hernandez, told Prensa Latina that the tour is very much requested by tourists from Canada and Russia staying at the Jardines del Rey tourist destination, in northern Ciego de Avila keys.

In addition to visiting the museum, the tour has a five-kilometer route among sugarcane plantations, in a train guided by a 1920 Baldwin Steam Locomotive, leading to the Rancho Palma restaurant.

The program includes the stay in a Californian-style mansion in which videos on the process of the sugarcane industry and its derivatives are screened.

The Patria o Muerte sugar museum was opened in 2011 and is part of the Slave Route cultural project, approved by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1993.(Prensa Latina)
