Havana, Jul 10 – The National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba will offer a concert next Sunday in this capital, in which it will have as guest the recognized Swiss conductor Emmanuel Siffert, announced this Tuesday the institution.
The maestro, closely linked to opera and ballet, has presented himself as guest conductor with outstanding ensembles from Europe, Africa and Latin America and also has a wide discography.
According to the organizers, the program includes the audition for the first time in Cuba of two works: the symphonic piece for great orchestra Prometheus in chains, by Swiss composer Aloys Fornerod, and the only symphony by Norwegian Edvarg Grieg.
Since its creation in the 1960s, the OSN has been conducted by important figures in orchestral music, including Soviet Aram Jachaturian, Mexican Blas Galindo and Brazilian Camargo Guarnieri.
It also had the participation of outstanding soloists such as the Russian violinist David Oistraj and the Cubans Cecilio Tieles (piano) and Leo Brouwer (guitar).(Prensa Latina)
