
Florida, Sep 7.- The 1º de Octubre grandparents’ home, in the municipality of Florida, was one of the venues chosen to develop educational and recreational activities in greeting to World Wellness Day, a celebration instituted based on the Strategy and Action Plan on Health Promotion aimed at strengthening healthy environments and facilitating community participation and empowerment.
During the meeting, the blood pressure of the grandparents who spend the day in that health institution was taken, and the elderly, with the guidance of the sports and recreation teachers, participated in morning gymnastics, an activity that favors physical and mental performance. of people aged 60 and over.
During the activity, Dr. Ariel Moya Nodarse, head of the Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases Program in the territory, reported on the essential aspects to take into account to improve the quality of life of the elderly, including performing physical activities , maintain direct contact with nature and consume fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy diet.
World Wellness Day will be celebrated next Saturday, September 10, as part of the program of activities planned for a whole week aimed at healthy styles and behaviors that are essential for people’s quality of life and promote a positive view of health.
