Cuba’s strengths as a safe health destination recognized

Yamila de Armas Águila, president of the Cuban Medical Services Marketer, praised the experience of more than three decades of medical tourism on the island, the potential of which was highlighted at the 2022 International Tourism Fair in Varadero.

According to the Ministry of Tourism’s website, she reported the existence of contracts with 132 organizations on all continents.
In addition, the island’s many advances in biotechnology, including Cuban anti-COVID-19 vaccines, are available to tourists via a number of unique health tourism programs.
Health is a new luxury these days, and given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is among first things tourists notice here, De Armas stated, adding that patients and clients are offered integrated, personalized options to ensure an excellent experience and improve their health.
She noted that Cuba offers treatment for cancer, diabetic foot ulcers, vitiligo, retinitis pigmentosa, detoxification, and injuries in high-performance athletes, among others.
Regarding upcoming prospects, she referred to international investments in facilities at thermal springs, efforts to connect the Caribbean, developing Cuba as a regional medical center, and the First International Medical Tourism Fair, to be held in October.
During FITCuba 2022, alliances were established with a number of prestigious hotel chains to promote environmentally friendly, sustainable, inclusive, accessible and safe tourism.
